Hollywood Party

Released June 1, 1934 (Feature).

An all-star Hollywood film with a troubled production history where many of the planned ‘stars’ dropped out, this features an extended Laurel and Hardy cameo where Stan and Ollie are uninvited guests to… a Hollywood Party. A Baron Munchausen has given the boys a phony cheque as payment for lions they sold him and they arrive at the party to collect from the Baron.

With Lupe Velez in ‘Hollywood Party (1934) Coloured by Paul Mitchell

An improvised egg sketch with Mexican actress Lupe Vélez where the eggs invariably end up broken actually works quite well on its own. If you haven’t seen this, while Ms Vélez is undeniably very pretty, she is equally irritating, especially at the beginning of the sequence!

Stan was allowed to pretty much reuse the sequence in Bullfighters.
